Keep Kids Learning with Super Why!

As school lets out and summer begins, our message is loud and clear about the importance of summer learning. For little ones, summer is filled with teachable moments and opportunities to read aloud. For school-aged ones, summer can be a dangerous slide that erodes knowledge build over the school year. Or, summer can be a time to make gains in knowledge, stimulate imaginations, and build enthusiasm for learning by reading and reading out loud.

Our annual celebration is dedicated to advocacy and awareness around elevating the importance of keeping kids learning, safe, and healthy every summer, ensuring they return to school in the fall ready to succeed.

We’re thrilled to collaborate with outstanding community partners again this year. Our theme is "Super Readers to the Rescue" with the popular PBS character, Super Why! on Tuesday, July 9th from Noon to 2pm in the Canyon Area at Destiny USA.  Kids can come dressed as their favorite superhero, with free books, crafts, entertainment, face-painting and giveaways until supplies last!

Luckily, we can always count on the Onondaga County Public Libraries to also have a TON of free educational programs and reading challenges to keep kids engaged throughout the summer.
